Alpine tundra landscape called páramo. Crazy-looking giant shrubs called frailejones (big monks) all over above a certain altitude. Delicate ecosystem pretty much unique to the northern Andes, others to try to see are on the list over te next couple months.
Weather supposed to clear somewhat soon.

Nevado del Ruiz is a glacier-covered volcano. How far one is allowed to venture about up there is controlled, maybe we'll find out tomorrow.
