The Southern Hemishere will only delay the results of a serious exchange, ostensibly between us and China.

It's completely unrealistic and also features a nuclear attack on Australia itself. Without a major nuclear stike in the SH, the lack of interaction between hemispheres means we'd probably be fine.
It's not a likely outcome anyway.
