I'm not sure it matters to you, but you are agreeing with me.
Conflating the two is idiocy.
Yeah, that would be bad.

On the general subject of why people vote how they do, and specifically whether "woke" issues will cause Harris to lose votes, possibly enough to lose the election, I can't claim any real knowledge or in depth analysis. I'm going mostly be what I hear people grouse about on the rare occasions when I talk politics out in meatspace.

Some common themes I hear people talk about:

Right wingers rant about immigration and 2nd amendment rights.
Left wingers rant about bigotry, racism, and climate change.
Everyone talks about inflation, but, in my experience, the people who talk about it in political terms are mostly right wingers.
Women, mostly, express some pretty strong opinions about abortion, almost all in support of abortion rights.
Lots of people rant about wokeness, or variations thereof.

It's the last two where I conclude there's ground to be gained electorally, because that's where I see people "crossing over". I see conservative women saying they want to do something about abortion rights, and I see generally liberal people complaining that things have gone too far.

Your milage may vary.

There's a bloke at SGUForums that does that too. I think there are probably blokes all over the place who do.

Me thinks we're well over a sustainable number. Young thugs should do their drive-by shootings at nursing homes.
You reminded me of a scene from this film:

"Frownland" is actually a sophisticated bit of music, anything but chaotic... you have two lead guitars playing in different keys and time signatures, asynchronous repeating patterns, lot of material for a short song. It was a very practiced bit of music, it is all on purpose.

Slightly more conventional song from "Trout Mask Replica" (the album is in the Library of Congress") is this, "Ella Guru"...

stanky, found what I think is a highly entertaining video with conservatory trained percussionist and drummer Art Tripp, worked with Frank Zappa/Mothers. John Cage, Don Van Vliet (Captain Beefheart). Great stories, interesting guy, whole thing is great, what I linked starts partway in.

Just saw he played percussion on "An Evening with Wild Man Fischer".

I take it that way. Experimental is a genre by now? WMF pulled me in by the meta-punkness and the core of song. His stuff was a prototype; song nuclei. Beefheart's complexity could be like a jungle soundtrack...chaotic, but individually meaningful or logical.
Easy to be confused by sound transcribed. Everything looks crazy sophisticated and complex on paper. I've experimented with simultaneous recordings of incongruity. Easy in overdub; hard live. At large parties, getting kids to sing a 'round' like "merrily merrily, etc" is wild when you have a second group singing a different 'round'.
Or try sending one speaker through 250' solid drain line and back to your ear, other speaker direct. Delay adds rich flavor. The worst: Two devices; 2 different songs; same time, one in one ear, one for the other.
Johnny Mathis and Jimi were my first foray. Hard to separate one's ears. Or eyes, for that matter. Try reading two books, one for each eye, with postcard to separate the images. We should be able to train our brains to do some new tricks.

thanks for the links! Grayman too. Now i have to see Death Race.

wow, did this go off topic!

Fairly accurate from my own osmotic absorption of the general flavor.
Biden may have dealt a death blow for Harris in a timely manner with his apology to the Indians. The 'we' want a strongish man with direction and vitality. They got a weak old white guy, apologizing for being powerful in the past.
Sure, nice gesture...also, hollow. Reparations? hardly. That, too, a liberal curse. All talk. Very woke and fake. bad combo. On purpose? Wyoming? The least chance for the least points. Cool strategy?

All kinda topsy turvy. Wussy liberal Take my guns? No way. Yet, the right fears that of the left. It should fear it from Trump and authoritarianism. That's what would be required.
Both teams are confused about who the leaders are and what they want.
Both want all you got. Both lie and cheat and steal. The left has a more painful brand of hypocrisy because it speaks of doing good things. The right mostly lies about taxes and health care.
Neither are remotely prepared for the flood of desperation that is almost scheduled; from outside and within. Climate is a big driver we all share. I think it wants to make us all equals.

If there's a single cliche to take away from the Trump show, it's the one with the wizened grandpa telling his sub-confident teen grandson:
"Son, if you believe in yourself, you can do anything you set your mind to...even with poor grades; even if you aren't movie star handsome...if you believe in yourself, you could even be president one day."

("Gosh, gramps, do you really think so?")

car speeds by; sound of semi-auto revolver rings out, old man makes gurgling noises, curtains closed

oops. carried away

Most of what was performed on "Trout Mask Replica" was transcribed.

Not by Van Vliet (who was incapable of musical notation) but by the drummer, John French. Really great entertaining interview with him here...

Bill Harkleroad, one of the guitarists on TMR, explains it...

Maybe someday you'll sit down and listen to TMR all the way through a few times. You might then start to grok why it is so acclaimed by many in the artistic community.
