So far, I'll take Bolivia.

Is Tierra del Fuego on your tour?

Well, we had plans to head over to the Chilean side of the Patagonia at the end of the year, get a car in Puerto Montt, and spend about two and a half months driving south to Cochrane, Chile, and back.

Checked the map, looks like Tierra del Fuego is about 1400 km drive south of Cochrane.

But all that shit's out the window for now. We're flying back to Tucson from Buenos Aires on the 29th, coming up. My plumbing has to be checked out to see what's going on.

Anyhow, there's a mirador or lookout just up the hill from us outside Uspallata. Saw a cross way the hell on top of the mountain above it, figured out a route up, and hiked up there today.

Look what's written on it.

Road up to the trailhead to Aconcagua finally open, avalanche danger over officially.

Last two days the wind wasn't bad, lots of sun. 22,831 feet/6,959 meters altitude at the summit. The south wall of Aconcagua (on the right side in the pic) is described as approx 2700 meters high, one of the biggest natural walls on earth, several hanging glaciers

Great day hiking, hour or so from the trailhead and it's lightly used. Really fucking beautiful. Nice footbridge up there, permit required beyond that. Requires a few weeks to summit.

That's some austere landscape. Are there any equivalents to Tibetan monks up there?

I looked up that tag "@dada_itsmo" on Xitter but it doesn't appear to exist.

He painted his van, too, looks like his Instagram name is "por donde salga el sol"... like saying "where the sun may rise".

Argentine president Milei dissolved the country's tax collection agency a few days ago, shitcanning over 3000 state employees including I don't know how many at the commercial facility here in Uspallata at Commercial Customs. Government is out to dismantle state bureaucracies, this one is the latest.

Immediate result was many many kilometers-long lines developing on the highway coming into town on the highway from Chile. FL and I had to avoid heading up that way so as not to take the chance of getting stuck in the jam of commercial trucks coming out of the high mountains.

But today... nothing. It's the weekend. Maybe Chilean commercial exit customs closed, dunno. Took the opportunity to head up the road to hit a trail up towards Los Penitentes rock formations. Steep, windy trail, FL stayed at the bottom.
