Nah, swords will be useless. You're not going to catch much food with a sword. Bows are the weapon. Silent, range of 200m, easy to replace all parts.

A sword also works for dismemberment. It's hard for a zombie to chase you if it's got no legs.

"Last Man On Earth" was my first introduction to the Matheson story as well, and IMHO still the best film version. Every commentary and bonus feature mentioning Vincent Price always points out the notion that he was the sweetest, funniest guy on the planet let alone Hollywood.

In "Last Man On Earth" guns were also used to stop (at least temporarily, as far as the viewer could know) the vampire-zombie-fucktards. And don't forget burning. "In that God awful pit".

Never read the book. I must make a note about that and acquire a copy. "Richard Matheson, Storyteller". And he certainly was.
