English doesn't adopt words from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys and mugs them for their loose vocabulary. English isn't a language, it's eight languages all standing on each others shoulders and wearing a long coat.

That's quite funny - a bloke at ISF was saying how wonderful English is and it is rightly the world's lingua franca, because it's such a beautiful language.
