I think that's self-evident every time I visit a news site - the left-leaning media immediately puts its hand out for money, while Faux News and other Murdoch feeds don't. People don't give enough fucks, and someone has to pay the wages.

This, today at Axios, also tells a message about your trans comments earlier - clearly people did see it as an election issue, which is truly bizarre.

swing voters' top reason for not choosing Harris was a belief that she was "focused more on cultural issues like transgender issues rather than helping the middle class."
Which all goes back to my original point - too many American voters are fucking morons.

Yep, more of the same:
An Ipsos/Reuters poll from October showed that voters who were misinformed about immigration, crime, and the economy tended to vote Republican, while those who knew the facts preferred Democrats. Many Americans turn for information to social media or to friends and family who traffic in conspiracy theories. As Angelo Carusone of Media Matters put it: “We have a country that is pickled in right-wing misinformation and rage.”

I don't know how you can fix that.

One very funny piece:
“When I ask voters in focus groups if they think Donald Trump is an authoritarian, the #1 response by far is, ‘What is an authoritarian?’”
I've been telling people for years that Orwell was right - Ignorance is Strength.

I genuinely believed the first day he visibly and demonstrably mocked a disabled reporter at the start of the campaign trail in 2016 that he would be tossed on the shit-heap of history.

Instead, it just proved that enough Americans are that bigoted and revolting they found it funny and voted for him.

I don't believe that would have happened in any other solidified democracy.

I'm surprised to see it actually showed up as the top issue. But I'm only surprised that it showed up in a poll. I thought all along that it was the single most important issue when it came to actually flipping votes. It wasn't just trans stuff, in my opinion. It was "wokeness" in general. However, boys* playing on girls sports teams was what really pushed it over the edge.

And is that bizarre? Does that make them fucking morons?

I say......sort of.

It makes them the sort of people who might say, "Ya know, I don't know much about economics. I'm not sure how to stop wars. I don't know much about creating jobs. But at least Trump knows what a girl is! He knows you can't grab a boy by the pussy."

So, yeah. Morons. They don't understand those other issues, such as .....anything. Some of them even know that they don't understand those other issues. But there are some issues that they do understand, and some of them voted based on those issues.

Confrontation with an extreme existential crisis to the point of people looking at each other and saying: "holy fuck, we had better handle this right or we're all gonna die!"

But since this is 2024 America we're talking about it's likely the whole thing would be entirely misinterpreted and everybody would die even sooner than otherwise.

Wokeness is a propaganda creation almost entirely manufactured by the right wing sphere. Becoming preoccupied with the coming invasion from Zeta Reticuli would be a more interesting thing to get fucking bent out of shape over. Harris probably lost more votes over Gaza than wokeness.

One good way to address propaganda. Talk about real-life consequences.

Point out the real-life consequences of being all preoccupied with wokeness rather than what we're going to do about the economy. Or what will be the consequences of undertaking the deportation of twelve million people?

Much more expensive food.

The one I'm waiting for is Trump's idiotic tariff idea - what will he actually do?

If he introduces widespread tariffs it will cause massive inflation.

Gaze IS wokeness.

What I mean by that is that after the October 7 attacks, suddenly the video screen was full protestors. Anti-semitism became a thing again. "From the river to the sea!" they chanted on campuses across the country.

And America watched and said, "You have got to be kidding me!"

It's unfair that the right wing blamed Kamala Harris for any of that, but they sort of see it as one big mass of stupidity. They see people so desparate to embrace some misunderstood minority that they embrace "Fron the river to the sea!" without knowing which river, or which sea, or what that chant means.

And in the most ironic aspect at all, the conflict may have cost her Michigan, too. The Arab-American community was so upset at the Biden administration support for Israel that a huge number of them either stayed home or even voted for Trump.

You got stuff backwards again.

What happened is Harris’ silence on Gaza led many Democrats to stay home.

Arguing that Democrats lost because they’re too woke is idiotic.

Illegal labor stillpays FICA taxes ie the Social Security and Medicare systems. Something illegal labor will never collect on. Free money for Uncle Sam.

Both have bad long-term solvency problems. Brilliant strategy to eliminate a nice source of funding for them.
