In the past two to three days, I've seen more and more pro-Trump youtube channels, e.g. Megyn Kelly and others, celebrating the "eating the cats" meme. They think it's actually working in favor of Trump, not against him. The theory is that the single most important thing that all the attention is doing is calling attention to the fact that 15,000 illegal (sic) immigrants have overrun (sic) Springfield, Ohio. So, sure, Donald Trump fell for the cat-eating theme, but the point is that there are 15,000 new ni,,,,,,Haitians destroying our home town, and Kamala Harris let it happen when she was Border Czar (sic)!

I would like to think the conservatives are getting it wrong. Certainly in the first couple of days after the debate, I thought so, but now I'm not so sure.

As I said after the debate, it's so hard for me to project myself into the head of an undecided voter. To me, if a candidate is a narcissist and megalomania who cannot tell truth from fantasy, I don't ask, "Well, yeah, but what does he think about immigration?" That's not the way the undecideds think. If truth were a core value for those people, they would have jumped the Trump ship a long time ago and would not reboard no matter what. Obviously, there's something more important to them.

Do you think the US, because of Trump's influence, is overall becoming more of a racist country?

To me, it's more of a loose association of racist states.

No.

I think the racism stands out more, and so gets reported more and viewed more, because it's more rare. It's enough of an oddity that each incident is worth reporting on.

ETA: Exmaple. After I wrote the above, I saw this headline:

‘A Systemic Issue’: Black Students Confronted Classmates About Racist Slurs, Prompting School to Call Cops to Escort White Students to Buses, Lawsuit Says

From the article:
The sisters, ages 13 and 16, allege they were repeatedly targeted with racial slurs by white students, including being called “monkey,” the N-word, and subjected to degrading comments like “Black as f–k,” “ugly,” and “too dark.”
Had that happened when I was young, there would have been no lawsuit. It would have been a pretty normal day. If a teacher was actually present at the moment racial slurs were uttered, it is possible that someone would have gotten a detention. Maybe. There would have been no investigations. No lawsuits.

In 2020, there was a wave of statue removal, especially of Confederate generals. In 2000, there wasn't. People have been complaining about those statues for years. It was only recently that any were taken down, some by government action, some by, shall we say, independent initiative.
