What do you think the effect of the moderators' actions were to the observing audience, especially to undecided voters?
(That's not a rhetorical question.)
I could make the Amazing Kreskin vomit with my mind-reading skills. Besides, it just seems like a neurotic pursuit to me.

Better to think of a debate involving Trump to be more like a kindergarten class than an activity involving normal adults, anyhow. Wouldn't be up to the other children to keep their emotionally stunted classmate in line. That task is left to the kindergarten teacher.

anacoenosis - a figure of speech in which an appeal is made to one's listeners or opponents for their opinion or judgment as to the subject under discussion

Rhetorical question - A rhetorical question is an inquiry that ends in a question mark but is asked for effect rather than to elicit an answer.
Maybe using big letters from the linked definition we used will help you see better...

Anacoenosis is a rhetorical device generally posed as a question. Soory if I seem pedantic to you but I am working on becoming more proficient in a second language and, to me, semantics matter.

Here are some more big letters you can read...

This doesn't seem like much of a dialog, so, it's all good. You've heard my opinion.

To remind other readers, just in case they've lost the thread in bickering, when my son and I watched the debate, we felt that the moderators' fact checking live would generate sympathy for Trump.

I'm starting to feel sorry for the bastard.
Imagine how embarrassed he'd be, should he suddenly wake up and see what we see.

Otoh, imagine how embarrassed america will be when they realize that we enabled everything about him.
And he rose all the way to the top.

Little Timmy, down the street, is starting to emulate him. He looked orange the other day.

The thing about Trump, though, is that he will never see what we see. He's incapable of that kind of introspective examination. That's part of his pathology that makes him who he is.

However, the second paragraph, about America enabling him, is very significant. Will America, collectively, ever realize that? I doubt it, because he has enablers on the left and on the right. Some of the right wingers might come to realize how bad he is, and see their role in creating him. I wouldn't explect that kind of realization from his lefft wing enablers.

I think it's a real case of "We have met the enemy, and they are us."

The worst of America enables him, but he also enables the worst of America.

It's funny how Trump confirmed all the worst I ever thought about USA.

It's a sick country. I can't get my head around half the population being barking fucking mad. Over here, MAGA-type people make up maybe 5% of the population and are laughed at more than christians.

To be fair to us, not every Trump voter should be called a MAGA type. There are a large number of people who would vote for any Republican before they would vote for any Democrat. They don't like Trump, but they don't like progressive policies. The election this time comes down to which one they dislike the least. I'm hopeful, though, that his recent missteps have convinced people that he really is so awful that Kamala Harris isn't as bad.

The ones who really scare me are the ones that actually like Trump, and there are an awful lot of them, even though it's not half the country.

Proof that J.D. Vance cannot keep his mouth shut:

(Tweet by J D Vance "showing" that Haitian immigrants are indeed barbecueing cats in Ohio. It's actually a video of barbecueing chicken, while cats wander in the yard.)

Don't these people have handlers?

ETA: CBS news is investigating. And the original allegations may have been about Africans, not Haitians. But.....I'm pretty sure that the people making the allegations would not consider it an important distinction.

"The new allegation also prompted backlash and skepticism, with many users saying the carcasses look more like chickens. CBS News has reached out to veterinary experts for their opinion on what type of carcass is on the grill. "

Oh hell. Here I thought she was eating pizza while selling babies to be raped and then eaten by undesirable immigrants.

I blame the media.
