Agreed. Much ado about nothing. If some good Chreeeeeeeeeeeeeestians want to get butthurt about it, let them. Giving them attention only encourages them. Suggest we stop that and force them to grow the fuck up.
Headlines that signal that the story will be misleading and/or stupid

Ok, not one specific headline.
However, anything, especially sports related, that is called "historic".
With the Olympics on, everything is "historic".
If you can run a sql query that returns only one result, that's apparently "historic".
What triggered this was an article about Simone Biles making history by becoming the third woman to.....wait....third? How is that history? Maybe the first is historic, but the third? The third to win 2 all arounds. Oh, but the first to win two non-consecutive all arounds.
And, in a way, it's kind of sort of historic, in the sense that anything in the "sports" category of Trivial Pursuit is historic, but it's just so overused. Has anything that is actually historic in a meaningful sense ever happened in a swimming pool?
(And, as said before, I love the Olympics. I am really impressed by Simone Biles. But the Peloponnesian war was historic. Gold medal performances? They're cool and fun to watch, but I'm not sure they're historic.)

I decided to ask chatgpt "Has anything truly historic ever happened in a swimming pool?"
Answer: (edited for brevity)
1. Michael Phelps
2. Mark Spitz
3. First women's swimming in the Olympics in 1912
4. Gertrude Ederle’s English Channel Swim in 1926:
5. Katie Ledecky broke a world record.
Answers say a lot about chatGPT, and about what sportswriters wirte as "historic", and about chatgpt

I think I saw that movie.
If you're not on edge, you're taking up too much space.

certain colloidal suspensions can act like solids or liquids. Somewhere, i saw a pool full of such a goo. May have been oatmeal. If you smack it, it acts firm. If you poke it lightly, your finger goes through it. Some students were able to run across the surface of the glop. It was an expensive university.
Nasa and the u.s. Navy have some deep pools wherein spacey experiments take place.
I had the keys to the swim club where i life-guarded. Sometimes we'd go after hours and in the raw.
It was exciting just being underwater with naked babes.
(damn, that was a long time ago.)
never would have guessed that it was my pinnacle of achievement. Sixteen. All down hill after that.
Hey! Downhill's fun on a bike.

It is when you can apply the brakes.

Never bothered kids when fixed pedals existed.
They used to put their feet on the handlebars and leave the rest to fate. Admittedly, there weren't so many cars then.
