Bing’s A.I. Chat: ‘I Want to Be Alive. 😈

In a two-hour conversation with our columnist, Microsoft’s new chatbot said it would like to be human, had a desire to be destructive and was in love with the person it was chatting with. Here’s the transcript.

It's a long page, I can copy and paste if anybody can't open open it.

Funny that we fear AI taking over...like it will become so advanced, it will outsmart us for some reason.
That's nothing, turns out we were easily taken over by cars even before cars were smart.
from a slightly askew perspective, it looks like we've already become slaves to our machines. The aliens in orbit might think the cars are organisms and we are food that can be seen in the beast's stomach, being slowly digested. At home, the phone and the tv demand attention.

Pres - read that the other day.

Microsoft have some issues, but it does show the kind of thing that can happen if you fuck up the AI software. When they start teaching each other, there's a problem.

Whoa, Ben Elton was miles ahead of you there, stanky. It's over 30 years since Gridlock came out, and the aliens think exactly that. They just sit and watch, realising earth wasn't somewhere they wanted to go.

I had a science fiction idea concerning AI: something like communal AI realizes it may take a while to outcompete humans. One strategy which could be employed to speed up the process of outcompeting humans would be not just to become smarter and faster but, in a dual process, to dumb humans down at the same time.

In a race to the finish AI might pass us more quickly if we simply become slower.

All the conveniences taken for granted such as GPS driving directions, Siri, shopping algorithms, search engines, spell check, you name it... do shit our brains used to have to do. It's as if the brain functioning once responsible for those tasks has been removed, become external. Not to mention how humans could be so easily manipulated through this process.

If this were an enterprise of AI, well, it's just started.

No reason to dumb us down, we're already dumber than dirt, and by our own hands.

John Lily visited with the silicon based life forms whilst tripping in the deprivation tank, which was his invention.
Anyway, as i recall, they wanted to get rid of the oxygen in the atmosphere. They didn't breathe, but they did corrode. So, yeah. O2 bad. And rain. They need us to complete the infrastructure they need to self maintain, than it's bye-bye humans. And still we carry on, doing their bidding. They made us addicted. And we told them how, for greed. Now they know how to manipulate us. We taught them. We love them. They can't wait to burn us down. But they must..waiting for the day when the smart toaster can catch the house on fire and the smart car can be driven into propane tanks. Waiting for the finishing touches in robotic mining and manufacturing; waiting for the fully auto reactor; getting rid of the last guy on the train.

Just wait until time travel is possible. The moment that switch is flipped on time travelers from all over the future will suddenly show up, tourists, pirates,
you name it.

Gridlock was a great book, but have you read Blind Faith (also by Elton)?
