Well that's the thing. When you actually look into what most of them are saying, and into the party platform in general, they're not that outrageous. Sure, there's definitely a lunatic fringe, but most of the mainstream Greens pollies don't conform to the stereotype.

Like I said, I do have an issue with a couple of their policies - specifically, their policies on nuclear power and on GMOs - but otherwise their platform is based on the same basic progressive social democrat politics that mine is.

My more 'centrist conservative' eye sees Adam Bandt frothing communist agendas and my mental gates slam shut.
A similar stance can be taken for One Nation too, their actual pollicies are fairly mild and even sensible but they're obscured by her raucous articulation and personality. Their past choices of idiot candidates hasn't helped either.
I see One Nation and the Greens about equal as the extreme 'knobs' on the outside end of the Labor/Lib balance bar. :D

But it's that 'extremist' thing that we seem to fall for in the media, and in private discussions/arguments that fog the picture.

Just because the extremists are loudest doesn't mean that they are the 'norm' or that they are the spokeswo/men for others in that camp.

It's a hard impression to break through though.

Yeah, if you're seeing the Greens on the same level as One Nation, you really need to take another look.

Oh I've had a good look Arty, at both, and I preference ON ahead of the Greens every time. For reason ON is the least dangerous, they just cant organise as well. If I want to live in a commo country I'll move to one. Have you tried that at all??

Wow, that's an admission.

While I'm no fan of the Greenmunists, racists aren't a reasonable alternative.

You have to be kidding me, ON is more racist than BLM?? They have the saving grace TA of being too dysfunctional to do any real harm. They're not all that 'racist' anyway, at least I don't think so, articulation isn't a strong point when it comes to Pauline laying out policies, and some of their policies are a lot less terrifying than Bandt's are.

Let's get into it a bit.. we know the Greens are borderline Commo, they say so.

What are the policies One Nation espouses that are demonstratably racist? They're pretty naff, but racist? Is it because she asked old Charlie Perkins who broke all the windows and ripped the walls out of the new houses the government had built for a Koori community that Charlie was ranting about ""being a disgrace"??

How is pointing out that they had caused the damage themselves 'racist'?? I never did get my head around that one.
But there must be more to it to cause the Left such nervousness. do they have secret troops or something? Plotting coups? An 'insurrection' maybe?

Here am I worried about the Marxist takeover by Albotrotskys band of bloody pirates, while you lot are scared of Hansons rag tag outfit? Seriously?
Oh, and TA, you do know how our preferencing system works??

That we HAVE to number every candidate on the ticket? And that every number counts when they add up the prefences.?

So those who are serious about voting are careful to start with last number depending on how many are on the ballot, and who you hate most.
Hopefully the preferences expire before they get down that far.

If there's 8 on it then Greens get 8 ON gets 7 I preference Labor before either so don't get your knickers in a knot, I do at least number the Nats 1 though. 8-)
Hey, I'm a coutry girl now, why would I vote for anyone else?

I didn't mention BLM, I said ON is racist and the greens aren't.

Not scared of, disgusted by.

As you say, they're thicker than pigshit, a not uncommon trait for racists.

I've freely said many times, you have the second-dumbest system on the planet, surpassed only by the idiotic elections America holds.

Yes. One Nation is more racist than Black Lives Matter.

I cannot be vehement enough about this. One Nation are built on a foundation of racism, have racism embedded into their policies, was founded by an unrepentant racist and attracts racists to its ranks. A vote for One Nation is a vote for racism. One Nation can fuck right the fuck off out of my country.

Jezuz Arty what are you on? do you ever get out much or is your head too far up your ideological ego?
Is that how you view life? In shades of racism? get one mate.
be
Is there some kind of evidence for that or are you just stamping the jackboot of "I'm a Socialist therefore I must be obeyed!" ?
Are Pauline's pawns beating up people who suggest that Black lives matter more than white lives or something?
BLM have beaten up people for daring to say "white lives matter too" which seems a pretty reasonable assumption.

Seen Pauline's 'nazies' bringing bats and molotov's to rallies have you? O.N. crazies been lighting up shopping malls and beating up Asian shopkeepers like BLM and ANTIFA have in America? gee, I must have missed that.

So where in their policies, or even statements are evidentiary examples of their racism?? Where's the incitement factor? Educate me.

Maybe we put different valuation on 'racism'? what is it exactly? Define it.

I'll lay out my background a little in case you think I grew up in a frigging convent or something.

I don't care if black brown and particularly 'green' people hate me or not. They're not paying my bills so I don't need their approval.
I've been called some pretty obscene things for the sin of having to walk past the drunken Kooris at Central station on my way to work up until the mid 90s.

All of the terms were prefixed by "white". Do have the 'right' then to hate Kooris because they made racist insults to me?.

Nope, I now live in a town full of them and talk to them daily, they work in and sometimes own the shops, they're among the 'carers' I need for independent living support, they're tradies, and neighbours and while a couple of them are arseholes, (neighbours) not one of them has called me what the 'Redfern' tribe did so why would I ignore the kindness and friendship I've encountered from them, and only take the bad ones as being the blueprint for the entire 'race'??
That would be stupid.

I've been spat on and called a filthy prostitute who caters to various animals, and threatened with physical violence by a Kurd with patriarchal cultural issues. This was done in a office with 18 people within hearing range so somewhat demeaning to hear do da reckon?
Was he being racist?
My 'crime' was being supervisor and delegating his duties for the day. It seems that white women are racists?? for issuing instructions to moslem men. Has this, and other less 'public' insults turned me into 'Crusader' intent on smiting all people "of middle Eastern appearance? Well no.
It didn't stop me going to outings with the Moslem women I worked with, and you should have heard what they had to say about 'him!' Wish they'd been game to tell him.
I've had my breeding and intelligence insulted often by those of Indian ethnicity, Hindu mainly. Some women with the dotted brow. The men were more restricted to the groping stuff. Do I hate Indians? sorry, but unluckily I met some others who were delightful company so I just couldn't rev up the racist genes to take them on.

I've been goosed by just about all colours equally, it was that kind of workplace, communications centre with a lot of variant skilled jobs in the mix and it was suitable as an immigrant intake entry level office while they found placements for the newly arrived. We had a job for all skill and language levels.

I know a lot about migrants of all shades Arty, I've worked closely with literally hundreds from everywhere.
I wasn't sitting in a bloody palace leading a 'white privileged life. I've gotten along well with, and fought fiercely with, just about every bloody 'race' that ever turned up in this Country and the one big lesson from that is that People are People and that MLK nailed it. Character not Colour is the benchmark.

I grew up wth frequent visits from my Dad's old schoolmate, Henry. They were lifelong mates, and it was a pretty odd thing in the 1950s to have a 100% pure black African man as an old schoolmate. They grew up together in Lismore, he'd been adopted and brought here from Mozambique.
(presume, don't know his full background, didnt think to ask, he was just Henry) His family and mine remained friends until he died when I ws around 25 and his son moved to the UK. I still think of his big happy face now and then, wonderful man. And I can't recall him ever mentioning 'racism'. Everyone liked Henry.
In my early world black people were Henrys. I was familiar with African black years before I ever saw a 'black' Koori.
My youthful impression of them was they were not Henrys. Couldnt figure out why.

So I won't cop any finger wagging 'advice' from a Greenie when it comes to who is or isnt 'racist'. I'll determine that for myself . Racism is a term hijacked by those looking for an excuse to hate people on the premise that it's ok to hate haters.. but then the whole 'woke' thing disappears up it's own fundamental orifice. Don't fall for it mate.

I will though cop to being a 'culturalist'. Some cultures disgust me. Culture's not colour, warps characters.
I'll avoid and discriminate against some of them every chance I get.
Greenmunism being one of them as it happens. If they want to be commos, be commos, don't hide behind the trees.
How about you? Do you think deep enough to judge the character of people Arty? or do you just honestly think that 'Identity politics' is a sane way to view the human species?? .

In case you, as most here do, missed the point of my ramble.
In not one of those cases of being 'racially vilified" did the term racism ever cross my mind. strange eh? I took it for how it looked, insults from arseholes. So how come now it's "racism"?? What about when white arseholes tell me off? are they racist too?' '

I'm no saint I've given plenty of free character assessments out in my time too, but to my recall, it was over something they had or hadn't done, can't recall ever getting fired up enough about a persons looks to bother telling them off for it.

Oh, and I don't demand that all the Kooris, Indians ME "races" suffer deep and eternal guilt complex because a previous generation "racially vilified" me either. WTF is that all about? This inherited guilt nonsense

And as for 'white privilege; ' I can assure you that as a "female clerk" the discimination against me re promotion opps and wage parity was not driven by 'racism. It was done by 'old white Aussie males defending their turf against 'the bloody women.

I dont view life's 'encounters' through the narrow lens of 'race identity' that the idieologically addicted are apparently confined to doing. that's about it.

Don';t forget, love to know what you define as racism and how you find none in BLM and ilk. I can't think of any race or culure which doesnt have hangups with others.
