Anti-LGBTQ Tennessee Lt. Gov. McNally Comments On Racy Instagram Pics of Young Gay Male...
Tennessee is currently leading the nation in anti-LGBTQ hate, with 26 anti-lgbtq bills moving through the legislature. Last week Governor Lee made national news for quickly signing a cruel trans youth health care ban, and the nation’s first drag show felony bill, which threatens to lock up drag performers.

What made the bill even more absurd was the revelation that Governor Lee himself had dressed in drag, on a school campus, in front of minors, back in 1977.

...

Enter Lt. Gov. Randy McNally, who it turns out has been openly leaving heart emojis and other encouraging comments under very racy pics on the instagram page of a young gay male aspiring performer named Franklyn McClur, who grew up in Knoxville – McNally is from Oak Ridge, but represents parts of Knoxville, where he lives with his wife Janice. They have 2 adult daughters. Mcnally is Roman Catholic.

I think the core problem of American politics is that our political parties, and the politicians who populate them, have no principles.

They have talking points, slogans, and focus group reports.

Hypocrisy is nothing new among politicians, but I think it has reached new heights in the age of the internet. It was going downhill in the age of television, including taking a nose dive when C-Span started broadcasting House and, especially, Senate debates.

Going back to January 6, that should have been something that was universally condemned in very strong terms, but you could almost hear Republican politicians phoning their offices to get their pollsters working to see what their constituents had to say about it. Even among Democrats, the condemnation was universal, which was good, but you could tell some of them were chanting formulae instead of offering sincere commentary.

The handful of politicians that once in a while show the capacity for independent thought are roundly condemned for breaking with their party.

It's not just politicians either, it's the way of the entire world.

Used to be that getting caught doing something bad led to an admission and apology. Now, it's nothing but denials.

The world gets uglier by the day.

He had been coming into work at the same sandwich shop at the same exact time every weekday morning for the last four decades, but now Joe Faillace, 69, pulled up to Old Station Subs with no idea what to expect. He parked on a street lined with three dozen tents, grabbed his Mace and unlocked the door to his restaurant. The peace sign was still hanging above the entryway. Fake flowers remained undisturbed on every table. He picked up the phone and dialed his wife and business partner, Debbie Faillace, 60.

“All clear,” he said. “Everything looks good.”

“You’re sure? No issues?” she asked. “What’s going on with the neighbors?”

He looked out the window toward Madison Street, which had become the center of one of the largest homeless encampments in the country, with as many as 1,100 people sleeping outdoors. On this February morning, he could see a half-dozen men pressed around a roaring fire. A young woman was lying in the middle of the street, wrapped beneath a canvas advertising banner. A man was weaving down the sidewalk in the direction of Joe’s restaurant with a saw, muttering to himself and then stopping to urinate a dozen feet from Joe’s outdoor tables.

“It’s the usual chaos and suffering,” he told Debbie. “But the restaurant’s still standing.”
