I was reading that earlier, good news the boy is better.

Pretty easy to understand by the cop - he'd been called to a domestic incident, saw a black male and pulled the trigger.

Sick fucking country.

I try to explain to my coworkers who think that "the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun", is that, when the police arrive, they only have a split second to assess the two armed individuals before shooting the unarmed black guy.

I think the saddest point in all that is I laughed.

Anywhere else in the world, it wouldn't make sense, but in America, it's true.

At least it was accidental.

Paramedics ED staff and firefighters here are regularly assaulted by friends of those being assisted over here.

Thank christ we don't have guns or we'd be every bit as bad as America.

So, give it 50 years and there might be some change?

I've estimated three generations. When nobody's grandfather loves their guns, then they can make start on repealing the 2nd Amendment. So, you know, somewhere between 50 and 80 years, as long as you start pushing the idea now that guns aren't cool and aren't something that most people need.

Of course, you also have to start getting the guns off the streets, so that the expectation is no longer that any given criminal is probably packing, which is the case now. That will deemphasise the need for self-defence.
