The Barkley Marathons recently happened again. It's an awful foot race in the Cumberland Mountains, that draws ultra-marathoners from around the globe. In 25 years, only 17 runners have completed the race. No prizes; anti-publicity; it's a bit of a freak show. Here's more:

My sister, who's a couple years older than me, is a marathon runner. Though she's not an ultra-marathon runner she has been somewhat possessed to run almost every marathon possible, including Antarctica.

that's sadistic! The article refers to the Barkley Marathons and where they got the twisted idea for 'last man standing' style.
