We moved onto Proboards and it's not quirk free by any stretch either but not as 'wobbly' as phpBB and 'free'..
A couple of the members take care of the techy stuff, above my pay rate, and so far so good.
One of the 'lads' was playing around with options in a bored moment and found that after a few moves out of curiosity he was suddenly the 'father' of a brand new up and running forum!
We all had a bit of a poke and prod at it, checked out it's tricks and decided that 'shit yes' we'd keep that in reserve for when the old one died.
We were up and running on it in time to comment on how sad it was to watch the old one go. Just a mention, TA is across this stuff more than we are.
They've set it up much like this one, just the one main board and it's fine for purpose for a similarly sized membership.
Stick together fellas, sometimes old acquaintances are the biggest comfort of all. We can bitch and whinge and they shrug it off where relatives wouldn't. A word of support for something you don't want the kids to know about helps out too.
We all have our place in the 'pack', sometimes I think I've turned into 'Lucy'. And sometimes I know I have.
"The Shrink is IN"
but we all know each other too well by now to take our 'rants' too seriously. or personally.
Same here really, isn't it? even among you fearsome Socialist types?
It's not all about winning the pissing competitions, it's basically about being in familiar company and bouncing ideas and opinions around for the hell of it.
Brain exercise.
We still argue about absolutely everything every day, and are still roughly half and half Left and Right 'wingers'. We pull no punches in a stoush while at the same time knowing that if we 'go quiet' for a day or two some of them will come looking for us to see we're okay. ( 2 of them to the extent of phoning the local hospitals to 'find' me. wow. that was a depression buster.)
I know you 'blokey' types don't see it like that, but you don't have to, just stay together anyway and pretend it's for whatever reason fit's you best.
That's your first free trial consultation with Lucy, next time expect a bill!
