"Walz goes pheasant hunting with his own Beretta as campaign makes appeal to gun owners"

Because that worked so well for John Kerry.

When we were young, showing solidarity with hunters might have been a way to influence gun rights advocates. Today, it makes you look like an out of touch doofus.

Fortunately, the lady at the top of that ticket figured out the right way to appeal to gun nuts in the modern world. Her saying that she would shoot home invaders had a lot more power than anything related to pheasant.

Someone should get with the program and realise that's a huge part of the problem.

Miles too fucking late now.

The 2nd angle has some mathematical backing, in as much as the uber wealthy donors have an outsized influence on elections.
It might be better, or it might be worse, but I believe it's true.

I'm not sure the influence of wealthy donors is as straightforward as people think it is. However, that's a very complex subject, and if I were being honest I would have to admit that my opinions on the subject are speculative. There's no doubt, though, that people with money have options, and they can use that money in ways that influence the actions, and even the thoughts, of other people.

well,

they do have semi-secret meetings in snazzy places sometimes, these moneyed movers and shakers and bankers.
our money is manufactured by a private corporation.
there's that stuff.

I saw the Fox News interview with Kamala Harris. It really was a fantastic example of everything wrong with what passes for journalism in today's America. As one commentator put it "Brett Baier's questions were straight out of Republican talking points." It was a total hit piece.

I think Kamala did a pretty good job, and I think she was very wise to do the interview. Like the preacher hanging out at the tavern, if you want to gain converts, you have to go where the sinners are. In other words, she really had nothing to lose by appearing on Fox. It created at least an opportunity to speak to an audience that usually doesn't get to see her message. Meanwhile, just as the biased ABC moderators at the presidential debate created ssympathy for Trump, I think the obvious ambush journalism of this interview created sympathy for Harris. Of course, it won't change very many minds, but this election doesn't appear headed to something that will be decided by very many votes.

Here's an audience asking Trump great questions, getting crap answers...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3tvZi5fTZw&t=351s

Too bad nobody ever said: "ex-presidente Trump, no respondiste mi pregunta."

Univision hosted the thing, may not have allowed the audience to follow up. It's too bad it wasn't journalists asking these same questions, it's worth watching.

ETA: this guy was a highly-watched political commentator on Mexico City television off and on for a dozen years starting early 2000s, criticizing the then current president here. Named Brozo the Clown.

Clowns can get away with saying things nobody else can, I think that's why a lot of people like Trump.

The Trump phenomena is so bizarre, it makes me dizzy.
I'd think it was revenge for the Dems having no guts or belief in a more modern version of democracy, but Trump's fans aren't sophisticated enough for strategies. The one's I've talked to say that they like his policies. Boasting? Bragging? Threatening? What policies? The border wall? Huh? Rural men like him because he's a ?? (City-boy, through and through.) Poor people like him because he was born with a silver spoon? Businessmen like his ?? Grifting? The guy is grotesque on every level.

That's why i must suspect something more 'sci-fi' has happened...some sort of ray gun that alters the brain? Fox News is close, but maybe an evil enemy of the U.S. put something in the Cool Whip?

You're right TA. In that I don't hate Mango. He's not worth the effort required. But he's still a dick.

Being the father of in-vitro fertilization kinda implies not having sex or needing a functional dick.

I wonder who the mother (of ivf) is?
