The Barkley Marathons recently happened again. It's an awful foot race in the Cumberland Mountains, that draws ultra-marathoners from around the globe. In 25 years, only 17 runners have completed the race. No prizes; anti-publicity; it's a bit of a freak show. Here's more:

My sister, who's a couple years older than me, is a marathon runner. Though she's not an ultra-marathon runner she has been somewhat possessed to run almost every marathon possible, including Antarctica.
