yeah, I dunno... almost reminds me of the belief and attachment to the Virgin of Guadalupe in Mexico.

At pilgramage time you will see people crawling on their hands and knees all over the countryside everywhere making their way to the Virgin of Guadalupe Basilica on the north side of Mexico City. She is definitely more significant than Jesus there.
