A gravel track tops the hill in the direction the car is facing. It immediately turns to complete shit upon heading downhill, dumb bastard was probably going way too fast when he was suddenly upon it, car probably rolled more than once, even engine parts were scattered.

We were up there hiking, around 3800 meters altitude, what a gas.

That's very high up and slightly higher than our highest mountain.

Peaks are all around 6000 meters. We're getting acclimated, hiking in a gorge to some hot springs today at about 3500 meters. Sunny every day, about 16-17 degrees C/low 60s F.

Got some coca leaves if the altitude gets too much?

Read of coca tea being offered but we might not be in the right place, no tours for us, we do things on our own.

Had been down this gorge before to check out Inca-era ruins but not far enough up the gorge for the water to still be warm from the termal springs.

Personally, though it looks absolutely awe-inspiring, this is a part of the world that I have absolutely no desire to visit myself.

We took the early morning bus to Argentina. If the moon had clouds it would look like the first half of that drive.

In their shared customs building on the border high in the middle of nowhere you enter in Chile, exit in Argentina.
