And how do they keep vehicles that old running? Seems like you'd have a problem with replacement parts.

Out of Barichara tomorrow, off to a country house not far away for about two and a half weeks. Got both my cédula (immigration ID card) and retirement visa official after a trip to Bucaramanga, a city 115 km and 3 1/2 hours away, major canyons on the drive. Makes me a resident. Now it´s the FL´s turn.

Chicamocha Canyon is between where we´ve been outside Socorro, Santander, and Bucaramanga. Exploring some of the area for petroglyphs and pictographs, something the FL and I always like to do. Indigenous group called the Guane left pictograms and petroglyphs in the canyons around here in pre-Hispanic times.
Spent part of yesterday and today figuring out where the hell the right rock overhangs were on the top of the canyon marking the largest of the Guane pictograph sites. Totally rural, very small gravel and clay roads, no signs, all small farms on a mesa top, we were on foot. Talked with a farmer watering his corn who pointed us in the direction where the
cueva de los santos (cave of the saints) is. Found it today...

There is a trail that goes along under multiple rock overhangs where many many faded red pictographs are, you can see the FL in this picture on the left.
