My father was a heavy drinker, smoker, and chewed tobacco. Was almost 85 when he left.
My mother just turned 93.

Dead dads used to be more popular years ago than these days.
I recall a diving trip I went on in the mid-'80s. There were 6 blokes on the trip, and every one of us had a dead dad. Cancer, heart attack, car crash, even a plane crash - we'd all lost our dads before we were 30.
We had a few beers for them after the dive.
