There has indeed been a discussion about amnesty for banned posters. Alas, the consensus has gone against the idea, once again.

My jury remains out.

I see a bloke who's just said that he lost his business and income due to long covid illness. At the same time, a convenient idiot starts a thread that results in people saying they'd put money towards the forum to help it thrive.

If it hadn't been me started that thread I'd be calling stooge - the timing was impeccable and he now has a tidy little sum to go on with. And as for changing to XYZ 3.13, nobody will know if that even happens. The actual changes made to date have been emptying a few caches and adding https, which as I pointed out, is free.

Back when I was a mod, I was advised that the admin team had methods of detecting socks other than a simple IP address match. I wouldn't recommend it.
