It's on my bucket list to quit the stuff. It's too strong these days and it's too gooey to stay lit in a joint, which is my method of choice because it's a placebo cigarette. It's become as stupid as any other habit. When it went from $10/oz to $400 an oz, it got way stupid, with the former furry freaks that sold 'lids' of leaf being replaced by slick criminals with guns and hard drugs.

There's a huge glut of the stuff in the U.S.
Folks in the PNW and other areas that grow legal weed often have a shit-load more than they're allowed to sell. This finds it's way to a black market in the still illegal areas. I've seen it for $100/lb. Same stuff that's in the stores for 20 times more.

Commodity fetishism, as Marx might say. People are getting high on the idea of the hype of their brand. The connoisseurs don't care about getting stoned...they seem to care that you try their fancy blend and admit it's better than yours. It's fucking silly to behold. It ain't liberty.
