MSN is Microsoft News. If you use Edge or Internet Explorer, it's the default home page, so when you open a new tab, it first shows you the MSN page.

I almost never see anything about Taylor Swift on it, because I don't click on Taylor Swift articles. On the other hand, today I had the opportunity to read an article promising to tell me the meaning of every name used by Sauron in "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Rings of Power". I see those because sometimes I click on them. It's a fluff news feed.

It does include real news stories in there as well, but there's very little quality control, and it isn't easy to distinguish opinion pieces from informational pieces.
You can also customise your feed. Little gear button in the top right corner.
There's that word again... feed.

Sounds more like vomit to me.

My dad once went off at me when I helped him to set up an email account. He said that it shouldn't be called an "account" because accounts are what banks use that hold money.

I replied that as an electrical engineer he shouldn't be using the word "current" because currents occur in water.
If you're not on edge, you're taking up too much space.

Oh, I'm sorry. I meant to say puke.

That's what they eat if they're lucky.

"Earlier this month, the Florida Department of Health sent cease-and-desist letters to multiple broadcast stations that had aired the ad, threatening criminal charges against stations that didn’t stop playing it."

What the hell is wrong with Florida that the above could be written in a story about a political ad? It was an ad supporting a Florida ballot initiative that would restore abortion rights.

Fortunately, the Founding Fathers (tm) also put courts in place and gave them independence from the political wings. In his order overturning Florida's action the judge wrote, "It's the First Amendment, stupid."

People in America have obviously forgotten what we all had to study in civics class back in high school, except this one could have been covered in junior high school.

Oh, and to answer the question above, we know what's wrong. DeSantis. And that moron he appointed as his Surgeon General.

And, finally, when I see a headline like that, it was, until recently, my assumption that the media was blowing something out of proportion. This year, though, I figured it was probably correct, but I dutifully scanned the story to see if maybe there was something totally over the top about the ad. Nope.

The Posse Comitatus has been amended to allow U.S. military to use lethal force on Americans. Iirc, it was September 20th, and not much fanfare in the news. In theory, the intent was in cases of civilian terrorist-type protests, but in the wrong hands (DT) it could be our worst nightmare.
These gradual assaults on our checks and balances, like the Supreme's new immunity ruling, and the suspension of Habeus Corpus (as in Gitmo) and Citizens United...in the wrong hands might become a dystopian nightmare.
Both sides have offered little resistance to this march of shitty destiny.

But then, i recall Kent State. Our military shot at students. Killed four, as i recall.

That's the first time news actually shocked me. I was 11 and watched the 1-hour tv news every night, as did pretty well everyone, because there was only 1 tv channel.

We're a long way from the action and everyone in NZ was stunned by what happened.

Still, one of the grunts did get a bruised arm, so it seems fair.

3 killed and 8 injured by gunfire following a Mississippi school's football game

“It’s hard to see what they are fighting over. I don’t think they are fighting over turf or drugs,” March said. “These are young men walking around with weapons. I wish I had an answer.”
It's the fucking guns.

Young boys and weapons aren't a good mix. When I was working during school hilodays, one of the blokes I was working for didn't stow his .22 properly and his 11 year old son found it and was playing with when it went off and killed him.

In London, they can't get guns, so take to each other with knives, a trait which has sadly caught on here.

At least with a knife, a kid can run away and have a chance. Guns in the wrong hands are tragic.
