I sure as hell wouldn't have guessed, but I did have a good laugh when I saw that story.

If you wanted a microcosm of everything that's wrong with America, carrying a gun to show primarily for kids is a very good start.

America is getting sicker:

"FEMA makes "operational adjustments" in hurricane response as threats spike"

(The actual article from that headline was behind a paywall, but the headline speaks volumes.)

Here's an article not behind a paywall:
Aid to several communities hit by Hurricane Helene was temporarily paused in parts of North Carolina over the weekend due to reports of threats against Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) responders, amid a backdrop of misinformation about responses to recent storms.

Some FEMA teams helping disaster survivors apply for assistance in rural North Carolina are currently working at secure disaster recovery centers in counties where federal workers are receiving threats, a FEMA spokesperson told CNN on Monday.

"For the safety of our dedicated staff and the disaster survivors we are helping, FEMA has made some operational adjustments," the spokesperson said in a statement. "Disaster Recovery Centers will continue to be open as scheduled, survivors continue to register for assistance, and we continue to help the people of North Carolina with their recovery."

On Saturday, FEMA workers had to halt their work in Rutherford County due to reports that National Guard troops saw "armed militia" threatening the workers, according to the Washington Post, which cited an email to federal agencies helping with the response, verified by unnamed federal officials. It's not clear if the threat was credible.

Rutherford County is southeast of the hard-hit Asheville area, and part of the mountainous region that was slammed by deadly flooding and landslides as Helene carved a path of destruction through the Southeast after making landfall in Florida last month. More than 100 people were killed in North Carolina and thousands of others were left grappling with catastrophic damage.

Meadmaker, you engaged in some misinformation yourself right here on Recogitare concerning FEMA policy and Helene, claiming the following alienated voters into wanting Donald Trump.

Or you could ahead and say that is still true, that FEMA policy is a real problem ie when it comes to Helene. Then act surprised when some people act on the idea that FEMA policy is a real problem when it comes to Helene.
“the consistent and systematic fair, just, and impartial treatment of all individuals, including individuals who belong to underserved communities that have been denied such treatment, such as Black, Latino, and Indigenous and Native American persons, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and other persons of color; members of religious minorities; Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI+) persons; persons with disabilities; persons who live in rural areas; and persons otherwise adversely affected by persistent poverty or inequality.”
Isn't that the problem with this idea when it comes to disaster relief, that white people get help last last for the purpose of ‘equity'?

It alienates me.
I am a voter.

Any questions?

And, it turns out that the FEMA threats were exaggerated. It was one doofus.

Who knows if it was a real threat, or just an asshole shooting off his mouth and talking big. That's a huge problem with America these days. It's impossible to tell the difference until that doofus starts unloading his magazines into his imagined enemies.

Maybe if it were not so easy to get their hands on assault weapons, it wouldn't be necessary to lock up bigmourths? Nahh.....

Making shit up about terrible government/FEMA response to Helene is the 2024 version of "Hillary's emails" and "Hunter's laptop", to distract attention with chaos and bullshit right before the election.
