Before manufacturing a product, isn't the manufacturer responsible for having a plan for it's by-products?
Reverse engineering would begin with a product's end game. If there isn't one, it shouldn't be produced.
The present methods are archaic. We now must wallow in the mire of this short-sighted, lazy approach.

(MM, is your stock portfolio causing a bias in your sense of justice?)

No, my stock portfolio is not causing a sense of bias, although stock in general might be. Exxon Mobil is an insignificant amout of my portfolio. (I wasn't sure how much it was. It turns out it's even less than I thought. I inherited a small amount from my parents.) On the other hand, it might be that I am sensitive, in general, to the idea that corporations can be raided by government for cash, because corporations are....me. Stockholders. My retirement plan.

When it comes to what a corporation is responsible for when creating a product, it depends on the laws that exist at the time of manufacturing that product. What often happens, though, in America, is that someone decides much later that corporations should have done something else, even though what they did was legal at the time they did it.

The allegation at the center of this lawsuit is that somehow Exxon advertising related to recycling was deceptive, becuase it said that Exxon was creating a lot of recyclable products, and was coming up with new ways of recycling products. That's all true, so what's the problem? Well, according to the California AG, since they didn't say that some of their other products weren't recyclable, that means they were lying when they said that some of them were recyclable. It's hogwash.

I have known for several years that most government sponsored recycling programs, including darned near every plastic recycling program, was ineffective and generally worse than useless. I blame the governments who put those programs into place, not the companies that produce products. I'm all for stricter environmental regulation, but let's not make it retroactive.

Just do what we do - take the non-recyclable plastics out and ship it to Malaysia or Bangladesh, For a small fee they'll happily pollute their land with our shit.

It's all our land. There's no such place as "away" that you can just throw things.

Yeah, obviously.

Hides the problem for political expediency.

I thought about this as a "stupid headline" story, because I wondered what it could be:

ROOKE: Democrats Killed Longtime Tradition In Red State. Republicans Let Them Do It

But I decided against it. I thought it was conceivable that there could have been something intelligent going on. Democrats do some stupid things, so maybe.....

But what do you suppose the "longtime tradition" was that Democrats killed?

If you guessed, "Carrying guns while attending the State Fair", give yourself a stuffed poodle.

Yes, it seems that the evil Democrats passed some stupid law that said while attending the State Fair, you couldn't take your guns. I mean, how stupid is that? Because there aren't as many guns at there used to be, crime is out of control!

(For the benefit of non-USAans, you probably know approximately what a State Fair is, but it's a combination of carnival rides, music and concerts, and livestock and agriculture show. Politicians and bad food are found in abundance. I went to the Illinois State Fair several times when I was a kid, and I loved it. It's extremely family friendly. And that's why we need guns! How can dad protect his kids at the Cotton Candy booth if he isn't even allowed to carry a Glock?!?!?)

We have things like that. They're referred to as Agricultural Shows, or usually just "blabla Show". Like, the Canberra Show is on Canberra day weekend. Sydney's Royal Easter Show. The Adelaide Show. They're more about the rides and bad food than the actual agriculture.
