I see Biden has suggested a ban on AR-15s, noting their use in a whole lot of shootings including the one targetting Trump.
I doubt that it's a winning issue politically. Obviously, the Republican base will hate it, but they weren't going to vote for Biden anyway. And the Democratic base will either love it or not care, but they were going to vote for Biden (or his replacement?) anyway.
What about the undecided voters? There aren't many, but there are a few out there. I suspect there are more "Damned Demcorats just can't resist a chance to call for gun control!" voters than there are "It's about time that someone stopped ignoring the elephant in the room!" voters.
Still, I'm glad he said it. Someone should. Really, this is looking more and more like a really good example of what's wrong with our gun culture. I think that kid shot Trump because he could, and no other reason.
