Looks like Trump is determined to have it his way, learned some lessons from his first time around.

His three most controversial cabinet level selections, Gaetz for attorney general, Hegseth for secretary of defense, and Gabbard for director of national intelligence, just happen to cover the three areas that were the most difficult for him in his first term.

If he gets all three passed by the Senate, look out, US citizens might be foolish not to have their passports in order.

My wife is strongly recommending I renew my Irish passport. She isn't convinced a US passport will be enough to get out of the country.

I'll probably do it. I don't expect to need it, but it can't do any harm.

Pretty sure you need to identify with your US passport when leaving/returning to the US. Looks like the Irish passport is great one to have though with Ireland being part of the EU, believe that gives you European Union citizenship.

I'm not betting that's going to happen, and it looks to me like Elmo is setting himself up to take over from Trump. He's gone from nowhere to Don's Consigliere in a matter of weeks and seems to be living at Mar-a-Lago. Trump even attended the launch yesterday and Elmo now officially has more money than Croesus.

They have the right-wing media dominating the mediaverse as Elmo and Farcebook continue to dominate the metaverse.

On the flip side, the Dumbocrats are unable to decide whether they were too woke or not woke enough and will put some idiot up as candidate next time with no strategy for actually winning.

That's correct.

Even if we decided to move to Ireland permanently to escape Trumpland, I would expect that I would get on the plane with my American passport, and then once we landed report to the appropriate government office and let them know we were staying.

I don't know their rules on spousal admission, but I assume my wife would be allowed to immigrate if her husband is a citizen.

I seriously doubt it will come to that. I think Trump would be perfectly happy shredding the constitution and assuming dictatorial powers, but the rest of the government isn't that far gone. But I never imagined that anyone could get re-elected after trying to overthrow an election. We're already through the looking glass in America. Who knows where it ends?
