Yup. Funny part was there was a little folkloric chapel on top of the rock where the trail led past all the mushrooms as well as all 14 catholic-peon stations of the cross on the climb up, you know, Jesus falls the first time, Jesus falls the second time, Jesus meets his mother, Jesus drinks some psychoactive urine.
I started leaving 100, 200, 500 peso coins at some of the stations of the cross like it made up for all the quarters and dimes I had stolen a long time ago from the stations of the cross at
Holy Hill where we'd ridden bikes up to in the summer as kids.
People from Milwaukee and Chicago would drink the holy water, throw coins at the statutes in the stations of the cross there for good luck. When they were gone I'd squeeze around the fence and pick them up off the cement. Buy cheeseburgers and fries and milkshakes at a tiny drive-in on the bike ride back.
