ISF Death Clock

Post by Admin »

You guys who don't go there won't be aware of the situation. Icerat, the owner, asked for donations and received a couple of grand, making promises to use it to improve the forum.

Since pocketing the cash he's disappeared from all contact with the forum and it seems very obvious to me he's going to let it die.

I'm picking that will be during August, when the domain renewal is due.

Well, hope the dumb sonofabitch has fun with his ill gotten gains. But a loser like that and money are soon parted.

Hmmm. Way back in 2010 or thereabouts, I flounced from the forum, but asked permission to rejoin shortly after the separation from jref, thinking it would die then, and I would say goodbye. I stayed another decade or so.

Keep us posted. I might do the same again.

A lousy couple of grand - big score! I reckon it's about $2500 US.

The huge irony is I offered $5000 for it when Randi decided to pull the plug.

Ho hum.

Actually I have a feeling that Icerat has gone back to Ukraine, and that's why he's out of touch.

For 3 months?

Maybe he's on the front line!

His very active X account suggests otherwise: https://x.com/DavidSteadson

He's managed to spend plenty of time talking about Biden and getting back on his hobby-horse of long covid but can't afford time to post at ISF?

I call bullshit and in fact I think I'll Tweet at him and see what happens.

Lots of people post to Xitter from the front line, but it was pure speculation on my part.

You suggested him being in Ukraine might have stopped him from being on ISF, and the X thread shows that wherever he is, he has access to computers and time to post shit.

If I'd given him cash I'd be fucking furious. And the final insult will be when he lets it die off.

That forum predates Farcebook, Twatter and most of the rest of the internet. Randi showed no regard for it, and Icerat will allow it to die.
