Damn, that means it's on the way here.

I was hoping winter would just give us a miss this year - might as well have some benefit from destroying the planet.

My grandson and his girl friend (both still in high school) are coming here for spring break. Pretty wild for me. Due on Sunday.
Should we let them sleep together?
Take psychedelics?
(It's hard being a good role model.)
Definitely let them sleep together.

Do acid if they ask, but don't offer it.
good advice.
(They did, both counts)

And with the cooler weather comes mushroom season!

For the most part in this region, unless you are a very experienced mushroom forager, do not eat wild mushrooms because they will kill you. They have been known to kill even people who thought that they were experienced foragers. They are called "death caps" for a very good reason.

El Niño in 2023 becoming more likely, which would result in dry, warm weather across eastern Australia
The first El Niño phase of the Pacific Ocean in eight years is becoming more likely in 2023, increasing the odds of drier and warmer weather across eastern Australia.

While the Bureau of Meteorology's (BOM) Pacific status is currently set at El Niño Watch, defined as about a 50 per cent chance of development, one US federal government department says the true probability in recent weeks has risen closer to about 80 per cent.

The department also predicts it could be one of the strongest El Niño's in decades.

That's making my prediction of temperature records being smashed in the next year look pretty damned likely.

Holy fuck.

Yeah, I'm anticipating another bad bushfire season. We've had three years of rain to promote growth, and that's all going to dry out over the Spring and Summer.
