Re: The Religion Thread

Sounds like you know your stuff. Yet you don't seem screwed up enough to be Catholic. Do you know about those things you can purchase, i forget their name, that hang around the neck and get you into heaven? (They come in green and brown.) I got better. (i,e. I was raised Catholic. I gave it up when...

Re: Planet America

He should step aside. Not possible now. As always, the Dems have squandered the chance and they're stuck with Biden. The only reason he'll probably win is because the orange toad will be the opponent and there aren't enough MAGAs to vote him in. I can definitely see President Harris taking over in ...

Re: The Religion Thread

Can one baptise oneself? Oh, it's a pool, not a font - I've been in one of those. But I'm still not sure it would count as baptising oneself. Catholics will dip and cross themselves with holy water - I think this is pretty much the same thing, just bigger because America. The dog knows what's going...

Re: Planet America

Mr. President didn't look so good in Hanoi today. Jet lag's a bitch, I suppose. ETA: I watched some of the conference, not just the worst moments, cherry-picked to seem as bad as possible. The rest of it still showed a guy struggling to think. Can this guy do the job today? Probably. Not perfectly, ...

Re: ISF Dead...

Icerat got it going again. This happens occasionally, and to his credit he does keep it going. But I'd rather a landlord that wasn't quite as absentee. The reports of ISF death have been greatly exaggerated. It's interesting reading ISF with no option to reply. I've been lurking for a year and it d...

Re: US govt to recommend no more than 2 drinks per week of alcohol

I just can't imagine anyone saying, "Well, the FDA says no more than two drinks this week. I had better not have one tonight. I already had one on Tuesday, and I want to be able to do one more with my friends on Saturday at the bar." I suppose there is some marginal value in it, in counter...

Re: US govt to recommend no more than 2 drinks per week of alcohol

Works for me! (An old Bob and Doug McKenzie sketch where they said, "Count me in on metric!" comes to mind. For those who never heard it....they were explaining how to convert from standard to metric measures. You double it and add thirty. So, if you had a six pack, in metric you would hav...

US govt to recommend no more than 2 drinks per week of alcohol

So.....I've seen on the interwebs all sorts of stories the last few days about a proposal for the US govenrment, I think specifically the FDA but I'm not sure, is going to change the drinking guidelines. Right now, those guidelines say that for men, they should limit the number of drinks to no more ...

Re: Planet America

I think he's a shoe in for the Republican nomination. The majority of the Republicans actually want someone else, but their process is skewed to favor the front-runner. The people who don't want Trump aren't going to all coalesce behind anyone else. By the time enough people drop out of the race to ...

Re: Planet America

I just read the indictment in USA v. Trump. I think a conviction is impossible, with a hung jury being the most likely outcome. He won't even have to plead an insanity defense, which ought to be his only legal option. The trial ought to go like this: Lawyer: "Your honor.....ladies and gentlemen...
