comprehending economics?
#1
I've never been able to grasp economics. To me, it's like a combo of math and faith. Interesting, yes...but it's like a folk singer grasping avant-gard jazz.

I'm not sure anyone comprehends it.

Anyway, I find the matter of crypto-currencies to be interesting...as a way around the rule of the global banking elite, and their fiat currency. Yet, even something like bit-coin is basically faith based. It has no molecular reality.
Gold does. Gold has historic value; there's a finite amount of it in the Earth' crust; so far, alchemists can't make it from lead, and so forth...

Yet, if you had a heap of it, what would you do with it? Try really hard to hide it, so someone won't come along and steal it from you?
Maybe give it to a bank, so they could keep it safe?
Bring a chip of it to Walmart in exchange for diapers?

All this type of thinking appears to be headed nowhere, yet, the new-thought is barely out of its womb.

My favorite economist (whose name escapes me, shamefully) proposed a currency based on the in-coming solar radiation...a measurable commodity that we all relied on for life. It was based on units of energy. It made sense to me.
All the other economic theorists have left me baffled.

T.A. is the person here that I presume has the best handle on economics. He recognizes mammon without worshiping it.

Yet, he may not want to check out a Max Keiser you-tube on RT, for instance, wherein I recently saw a very relevant 'debate' concerning
crypto-currency, from two very different angles; both relevant.
In the 2nd half, there is the young guy in shorts; quite the contrast to the old guy in a suit. Max pretty much stays out of it:

Amazing that these issues go back several thousand years.

I'm going to let this one go because: "I've never been able to grasp economics. "
You can lead 'em to knowledge, but you can't make 'em think.

Huh?

I don't grasp economics.

Sparky, if you do, please share.

Hopefully, you're interest in this thread isn't to simply fuck with me, is it?

Because I'm here to draw out some opinions or theories or links about economics.
(On account of my inability to grasp economics.)

Why would I start a thread about my ability to grasp geometry? Or algebra, even?

Yeah.

economics is a weak spot for me.

(I'm also fairly suck-ass as a figure skater.)

Sparky, wtf?

we don't need to be enemies, for fuck's sake.

explain what you know, with evidence, on any issue you have challenged me over, from the beginning of time.

Shit like me seeing science as a religion doesn't count, btw...that's philosophical stuff that doesn't much matter...though, for the record, science absolutely acts like a religion. Tax payers fund it. Even the creationists.
It's the same thing that bugs me about religion...

We atheist tax payers are forced to finance their exempted tax bills.

That kind of sucks.

Same with science, bless it's heart.

Do I want to pay taxes to finance a mission to Mars, with humans?

Fuck no! That's godamned fucking insane!

Hell, I'd rather pay taxes on a stupid replica of Noah's Ark in Kentucky.
It's bound to be hellish cheaper.

(Though equally religiously stupid. The Ark don't float; Mars ain't a back up plan...whatever.)

I really hate religion.
possibly more than most.

so when i see it popping up, under the banner of science, it sets off my alarm system.

oops.

i totally misread sparky, huh?

Like, he also doesn't comprehend it?

Oh shit.

I just thought he was being a dick to me, and now it's possibly me that's the bigger dick in what I never wanted to become a dick sizing type fight.

This could be the most egg i've ever had on my face.
(I think it's egg?)

um,

sorry?

It's actually quite simple if you understand religion, because the two have a lot in common.

Strangely, it actually does have a molecular reality, in the blockchain. It's only electrons inside a chip, but it has a physical presence.

I'm watching crypto-currencies very closely. Right now, I've been invited to join a partnership to mine them at a cost of $10,000.

I think the risk is too high, but I can definitely see a future in them. Bitcoin alone has made many millionaires and will make more.

The problem, in no particular order are:

Can be hacked. You need top-class security and few people have that level of knowledge. No commercial program will protect you.
Market. Extreme fluctuations in price make them dodgy as fuck.
Use. If you don't want to buy drugs or weapons, pay a hitman, or buy kiddie porn, they aren't a lot of use in the real world.
Governments. A huge danger. As soon as they become widely used, governments will want some of the action and legislation could kill them overnight.
Proliferation. When there was Bitcoin, there was a little protection, but now every man and his dog is creating blockchain currencies. Some might win, but most will fail. Picking which is which is impossible.

Be assured he won't. As I've explained before (time and time again) Max Keester is a fraud and conspiracists. He dresses up relevant facts in disguise, which fools the unwary, but when you unravel what he says, he is always full of shit.

I've seen enough to never try again, because he always follows the same pattern. Why do you think the only channel he can find to propagate his bullshit is Russia fucking Today, Putin's very own mouthpiece? He may as well be in Infowars.

They're fucking with you, mate.

It's his guests that i find interesting.
(I'm think i'm well beyond being fucked with.)
It's not like I have money to invest.

Funny about the 'molecular reality' thing...

You mentioned the electrons...and they are 'sub-molecular'.

Good lord, is this where quantum effects enter into economics?

As per sorting out the frauds from the truth, keep in mind who my president is.

We're entering into a new reality.

It has an unreal flavor.

I'm a simple observer.

(No need for concern about my soul.)

When you don't believe in the devil or the soul, it's difficult to sell one's soul to the devil.
Not comprehending economics is more icing on that non-cake.

It's easy - watch this:

1 + 1 = more money for the elite.

Works every time.

What I find fascinating about economics, in no particular order:

1. I don't understand it.

2. It seems to be infused with "woo-like" elements. It's not exactly rational.

3. Apparently, this quazi-science rules the world and holds our fate's in the balance.

4. In fact, it is dominate over science. It determines what sort of scientific inquiry will be taken.

5. It rules elections and decides who our leaders will be.

6. It rules like a bitch. It creates rules that magnify its rule, even though it has no case for its reason.

It behaves like an infection, with parasitic intent. It feels like a disease from my lofty perch.

Let's call it "Mammon".

How do we shake free from it?

Do we simply accept the "fact" that it can't be done?

That all the amazingly smart and decent people are helpless against its dominion?

If so, that's a level of defeat I'm not satisfied with.

Of course, my personal dissatisfaction doesn't amount to a hill of beans.

Hmmmnn....

I wonder if others are dissatisfied?

"You can't fight City Hall"

I'm hypnotized by slogans of that sort.

But are they true?

Or, is it just a lazy refuge?

Unfortunately, because of the fact that most people who vote are making a killing from the current world economic Ponzi scheme, none of them chooses to see the wood behind the trees, so no, there is no chance of change.

(although we're going to have a shot at it here)
